North Lido Beach & Park
A Great Place to Relax
In the center of Lido Key, Lido Beach is a lively beach with plenty of amenities, concessions, and activities. But if you're in a mood for something a little quieter and less crowded -- in fact, a beach that's fairly unspoiled and primitive -- you'll want to head slightly north from mid-Key to North Lido Beach. It's easy to get to -- it begins at the north end of Ben Franklin Drive -- and North Lido Beach probably provides more seclusion and "privacy" than other nearby public beaches.
Location of North Lido Beach and Park
The beach is covered with dunes, sea oats, and powdery, beautiful white sand that won't burn your bare feet on even the warmest days. North Lido Beach is a taste of the beautiful, primeval Florida that first attracted settlers and builders to the area. There are no amenities and no lifeguards, so North Lido Beach remains an almost-entirely natural setting, perfect for romantic strolls, bird-watching, quiet fishing, or simply getting away from it all. Swimmers should know that the currents off North Lido Beach can be very swift.
The beautiful 22-acre North Lido Park adjacent to the beach offers a trail beginning at Emerson Drive to the northern tip of the Key. Beautiful oak and cedar groves complement the more than 2,500 colorful native plants that volunteers have planted at North Lido Park over the last two years. Shore birds and migratory birds often stop in at North Lido, making the park and beach hugely popular with bird-watchers. Only street parking is available at the beach; many choose to park at mid-Key and walk north. Both North Lido Beach and North Lido Park are free to the public and open 24 hours, 365 days a year. Sorry, no pets are allowed at the beach or park.
North Lido Beach is set near a number of luxury homes at Lido Shores on the north tip of beautiful Lido Key, located On the Gulf of Mexico, north and west of John Ringling Boulevard and Ben Franklin Drive, Sarasota, FL 34236.
